Negative memories and associated feelings can often get in the way of enjoying the present even if you avoid thinking about the past. If you have been in therapy with a psychologist, social worker, or psychiatrist, then you are probably aware of many past experiences that have had a lasting negative effect. Even if you've never been in therapy, you've probably noticed that certain negative experiences are stuck in your memory. Most of us can't imagine how we would feel if this "emotional baggage" suddenly disappeared. Of course, it's not feasible to make it disappear overnight, but EFT can be very effective in eliminating it over time through a "personal peace process."
The personal peace process is very simple: you methodically use EFT on each memory that evokes a negative feeling. This process can be learned in just a few coaching sessions. Some clients can then complete the process on their own, while others find they need weekly or monthly coaching sessions to stay on track.
The personal peace process does not eliminate your negative memories. Instead, it heals the energy disruptions that are associated with those memories so that they no longer have an emotional impact. I highly recommend that everyone initiate and gradually complete a personal peace process. After all, why be weighed down by emotional baggage if you don't have to be?
